Click here to email me Use your Back button to return to the previous page Highland Ponies for Sale Due to the success of my new Highland stallion, Josethdene, I have some young stock for sale! I would love to keep them all but there are limits! My primary interest is in training and animal behaviour so a lot of attention is paid to exposing young stock to different sights and sounds. The first pony we sold was Upperlochton Fergus, bought with his mother as a foal at foot. If you want to see how Fergie turned out, do a search on YouTube for Upperlochton Fergus. His young owner has done wonders with him but I like to think we, at Morrich Highland Ponies, gave him a good start. Prices: ...are negotiable. In the current economic climate, it is difficult to put a value on anything, but if you are serious, let's discuss it. I might be prepared to sell at a lower price to those who can offer a really good home for life but am suspicious of those looking for a cheap pony without coming to look at it first. I suspect the last type of buyer is looking to make a quick profit and won't be willing to spend much on looking after the pony. The purchase price of a horse or pony represents a very small investment over the animal's life time and if someone wants to save a few pounds there, I wonder if they will not also choose to skimp on the relatively high costs of maintenance, vet, feed, tack, etc.? Transport: If you live in the south, the Scottish Highlands may seem a million miles away and transporting an animal as large as a horse both difficult and expensive. Not so! If you decide to have a closer look, Morrich Highland Ponies is about 40 miles from Inverness Airport at Ardesier and there are regular (and cheap!) flights to many UK and European destinations, so there is no excuse not to come and look. You will be made very welcome, but do make an appointment There are also excellent rail links to Inverness and by booking ahead through sites like http://www.thetrainline.com it can be surprisingly cheap to travel by train. There are several professional horse transporter who carry horses up and down the country and the cost of delivering a pony to, say, the south east might be no more than £200 - £400. The Morrich Stud is situated about two miles from the A9, the main arterial road north. The hauliers have boxes designed for expensive racehorses, and are extremely experienced. They have excellent stabling at stop over points strategically placed around the country. Try Eric Gillies at http://www.ericgillie.co.uk/index.html who we strongly recommend. FILLIES I have the following fillies for sale Morrich Kelpie, Morrich Zorro, and Morrich Fearna. Click on the name to go to that pony's particulars. View the videos below for moving images -- the ponies are named in the video so you cannot get confused! Better still, visit the stud and meet them face to face.

For Sale - Lagalgarve Mistletoe 130/03 Foaled 2003 See a video of Mistletoe here: The video should be viewed at 4:3.
Sire: Erray Rush Dam: Erray Ilex Price subject to negotiation as her training is on going. Video coming soon.
Update: Mistletoe's training continues well. She is now backed and riding out and ready to be taken on by a knowledgeable rider. A nice summer project for someone. Click on the picture to enlarge it. Seven year old registered mare. Full pedigree here. Lightly backed 2008. Mistletoe foaled a filly October 2010 (see Morrich Zorro below) which accounts for her shape! Mistletoe's training will be continued until she is sold.
For SaleMorrich Zorro (we call her "Zarra")SOLD Click here to go to YouTube links.
Filly foal born October 2009
Sire: Josethdene Dam: Lagalgarve Mistletoe Price subject to negotiation as her training is on going. Well handled and very much a people lover. Zarra is "in your face" and demands attention. As with all my foals, she has been exposed to "environment enrichment"! She is not phased by flapping plastic, walks over plastic and plywood sheet, walks into a trailer, leads, is excellent with the farrier, and so on.
Zarra is the first into the trailer.
Zarra still in her winter clothes
For Sale : Morrich Kelpie
Foaled June 2010. Sire: Josethdene Dam: Kinkell Breagha Kelpie measures 13HH as of the 20th August 2011 so should make at least 14HH. She is currently being handled daily and tolerates an old coat being thrown over her back, the farrier, etc.
For Sale - Morrich Fearna
Foaled January 2010 Sired by Josethdene, Dam Meeceside Gracie
Fearna has been well handled, is good with the farrier, like people, loads, etc.
For Sale Mares Due to a change in breeding policy, I have two brood mares for sale who are broken and well handled. Both are suitable as children's ponies. For Sale - Meeceside Gracie -- foaled 14th May 1998 SOLD Sire: Trooper of Whitefield, dam: Stella of Whitefield. Gracie is the sweetest of all mares. loves people, and is a real old traditional Highland pony. She would make an ideal child's pony. She is about 13HH.
Picture left: Meeceside Gracie. The rider is 5' 8" and doesn't seem too tall for Gracie.
Gracie's first foal here was very weak and had to be assisted to the udder every few hours, then topped up from the bottle. Gracie is so quiet, I did not bother tying her when I milked her and she was always perfectly behaved.
For Sale - Kinkell Breagha Foaled 1995. Sired by Cock o' the North, Dam: Broadshade Bramble. Breagha is the heavily built east of Scotland type of Highland and she is an ideal family pony. She is the mare the children (ages around 8 years old) ride when their mother comes over to help out. In her previous ownership, she was ridden out every day by an eleven year old boy. She is about 14HH.
For Sale - Morrich Darach SOLD Darach -- soon after arriving at his new home in Essex seems a bit overwhelmed by the amount of grass over the fence!
A video of Darach getting some training for his journey to his
new owner can be seen via a link on the Training
page. This is a very special lad and should go far in the right hands. Price subject to negotiation as his training is on going. Sire: Josethdene Dam: Mary-Mac of Tormore Video coming soon As with all my foals, Darach has been exposed to "environment enrichment"! He is not phased by flapping plastic, walks over plastic and plywood sheet, walks into a trailer, leads, is excellent with the farrier, and so on. At five months, Darach jumped a five bar steel gate (total height 4ft 6in?) but got his foot caught between the two top rails. He was quickly freed and no harm resulted and he was barely limping the next day. However, the incident left him a bit nervous so I have spent more time with him than usual as he is a very special boy. This guy has brains and would do well in ridden classes. I put out a plastic sheet with his feed bucket in the middle. Darach walked around the sheet, obviously thinking things out. Then tried one foot, scared himself with the noise, but finally ended up marching across the plastic to get his breakfast. Darach will grey out and be a quite spectacular looker, like his father Josethdene, as both parents are very good looking with long manes and forelocks.
For Sale - Morrich Finn SOLD Finn is off to realise his ambition to become a deer pony on a Highland estate, with showing interludes! The problem we had with Finn when we came to transport him to his new home was keeping him out of the trailer while small modifications were made to internal fitments! Of course, he loaded OK and travelled without problems, but then he's a seasoned traveller.
Accepting tack. Price subject to negotiation as his training is on going. Finn is now eating off a fresh deer skin and accepting a deer skin on his back so would seem an ideal prospect as a deer pony; Finn is phased by nothing. I would expect him to be carrying deer next year. See video below:
Sire: Lord Barney of Tormore Dam: Glentrowan Belina Finn is a really laid back "in your face" character who would make a wonderful child's pony as nothing much bothers him. Since winning overall Reserve Champion at The Sutherland County Show (one of only two shows he was entered for during 2009) we decided to run Morrich Finn on. But he is now for sale due to Josethdene's success as a sire and unexpected foals.
Left: Finn at a show, June 2010. He remained quietly tied to the trailer for a good part of the day. Finn is SO good!
Finn has always been a bit of a character and much loved. He would be an ideal child's pony as he really loves attention and there is no nastiness in him at all. I would prefer that he went to a showing home as he was the first foal born with the Morrich prefix and it would be a pity if more did not see his good looks.
Finn is going to be a great fun pony for some lucky person! He will probably make around 14HH at maturity and should be a grey dun. See Finn learning to load on the Training page.

A few random pictures. In winter, Finn grows his own rug.....
Meets sheep and cattle. Braves the show ring, and wins! Etc. Click on the pictures to enlarge them. Finn, pictured with his mum, is not bothered by sheep.
